  1. Hello, I am not sure if this is where I send a note looking for something but I will try. I am looking for a counted cross stitch pattern with sign language. I have a great nephew that is legally blind and deaf and thout this would be a great gift for mom and dad.
    Let me know. Thanks

  2. Gloria,

There is no area on the Sue Hillis Designs blog to request or look for charts. I suggest that you might try at 123 Stitch. That site has a great message board and there are some very helpful stitchers there that might be able to stear you in the right direction.

  3. Gloria, I took the liberty of looking in 123stitch website and they DO have a sign language pattern. I hope you found one.

  4. I just received my order today!!1 I am so pleased!!! I purchased my first ‘map’ pattern back in the middle 70′s here in Charleston, SC. I loved working the project!!! I can’t wait to start again! I am having trouble finding the proper fabric. I had done the other projects on Fiddler’s cloth but am having a problem finding it. Which fabric is used in your map series. Thank you, Carolyn

  5. I’m looking for any designs for Nurses and Teachers. I have two nieces in College for these professions and would like to do something for their graduation. Please email me at lscott255@yahoo.com. Thanks!

  6. I’m new to cross stitch and was wondering what the best kind of cloth or fabric to stitch on? I found some fabric at a Joanns but its so stiff and leaves creases when I take it out of the ring or scroll. Any help?

    Thanks!

  7. Hi Chelsea,

Welcome to the wonderful world of cross stitch. To answer your question Aida is always a good start, with an 11 or 14 count. the squares are big enough to start off with so you can see the holes. Most fabrics will have some sort of crease from hoops. The best thing to use if you want to minimize markings are the scroll bars. However, either way in the end you need to wash and press your piece before stretching or finishing your piece off.

    Hope this helps,

    Kyla,
Feel free to email if you have any other questions- kymacc@gmail.com

  8. I just received my order!!! I absolutely love these patterns. Small and simple to do! I will keep collecting from your website so I have smaller projects to do in the car!!!! Thanks So Much!!!!

  9. I just finished “Tools of the Trade”. I changed the words to my 8-yr. old grandson’s name and date of birth. He was delighted. Jack has dressed as a pirate for the last three halloweens. It was a fun project. Could also be used for an ECU Pirate fan.

  10. Hi, I need to know how many threads to use on the state maps. I know the backstitch is one most of the time. What do you recommend?

    NormA

  11. The amount of threads to use depends on the count of the fabric and your personal preference. Most people use 2 strands on 14 count aida (or 24 count evenweave over 2 threads) both some people like 3 strands better. It’s up to you!

  12. Would really like to know if your going to plan another cruise trip? If so could you possibly plan one from Texas.
